Adventure for Two

Whoever said that the adrenaline rush of adventure can only be appreciated alone clearly did not know of these famous Australian adventure sports that are best experienced as a couple

Bust the myth that adrenaline sports won’t fit on a couple’s romantic retreat to Australia. The adventure of a lifetime awaits bold lovebirds with options that range from snorkelling with sea creatures to romantic treks and parasailing over breathtaking views.

Snorkelling Around the Great Barrier Reef

Head to Queensland’s year-round warm waters for a dive into Australia’s rich marine life. There’s really nothing holding you back here because most diving companies offer lessons for the uninitiated. Make a beeline for the Great Barrier Reef in north Queensland, and take your pick of memorable experiences from gliding with turtles, manta rays, whales and so much more. Remember to book well in advance and choose between snorkelling and diving, depending on your level of comfort and experience.

Skydiving in Sydney

Experience the adrenaline rush of skydiving as you jump off a plane together. Head to Stanwell Park, a little over an hour’s drive south of Sydney, where aeronautical pioneer Lawrence Hargrave embarked on his first flight in 1894. As you glide in the air, 400 metres above the water below, the stunning coastline of Sydney will unfold before you. If you can peel your eyes away from each other, that is!

Fly Over the Great Ocean Road

Lose yourselves in the breathtaking panorama of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria while perched inside a vintage biplane. Take an hour’s drive from Melbourne to Barwon Heads Airport near Geelong and you can hop on the Grumman Ag Cat biplane. It seats two and you will get to dress up like you stepped right out of the 1950s — goggles, scarves and jackets, check! Time your flight around sunset because romance is truly in the air that surrounds you.

Kayaking In Freycinet

Tasmania’s Freycinet Peninsula, about 125 kilometres north-east of capital city Hobart, is a kayaking adventure like none other. Row with your partner through clear, turquoise water and pristine, white beaches, as the spectacular Pink Granite mountains surround you. With teams to train you in your kayaking adventure, there really isn’t much holding you back except a flight ticket to Tasmania.
